Nintendo Reveals 3 Game Boy Games Heading To Switch Online

Nintendo has revealed three new Game Boy (and GB Color) games being added to Switch Online right on the heels of killing Yuzu and Citra. Of course, as we all know, Switch Online is just its paid service to be able to play a fraction of its library through the very thing that the Big N wiggles their finger at — emulation.

As a way to celebrate Mario Day — March 10 — Nintendo revealed Mario Golf, Dr. Mario, and Mario Tennis are all heading to the online service. The trio of games are all sure to get fans excited as they all have its audience and does give law-abiding gamers a way to experience the trio of games, albeit in a limited format, as Switch Online simply isn’t the best emulator for the job.

Dr. Mario sees the iconic plumber’s take on the classic Russian video game, Tetris. Eliminate the viruses on screen by correctly lining up the right pills.

Mario Golf is exactly what it sounds like, a handheld golfing game featuring the princess saving heroine, with its Game Boy Color version packaged with a story complete with light RPG elements. For a Mario game it’s a bit of a unique fare, especially at the time.

Mario Tennis, meanwhile, focuses on its gameplay and is less reliant on over-the-top antics. Of course all three of these games — alongside the Switch Online library itself — is only able to be shown off because of Nintendo’s in-house emulation software.
