Ubisoft Revokes Licenses To The Crew Amid Shutdown

In what’s got to be one of the scummiest movies Ubisoft could’ve possibly done, they’ve revoked licenses of The Crew owners. The open world multiplayer racer was released a decade ago as an online-only exploration racer before getting pulled last month. Unlike other games where physical media could’ve saved it, with servers shutting down and the lack of third-party servers, this game is just lost media now.

To make matters worse, good ol’ Ubisoft has started revoking licenses from owners telling players to go back to the Store to “pursue your adventures.” If players boot into the game from the installation directory, it boots up the demo mode. We don’t have to tell you this didn’t go over well with the community who were quickly up in arms as this proves just how unstable the digital-only future Ubisoft wants players to become accustomed to is.

It takes decisions from an executive to kill a video game and leave it in the dust. Despite once being sold as full price game in stores, players have no access to it and it also seems Ubi is never gonna learn their lesson, if the stuff we hear about Star Wars Outlaws is any indicator.

All we can say is support Stop Killing Games if you want to hopefully see some sort of changes and repercussions of Ubisoft’s anti-consumer practices. It isn’t too late to prove that not everyone is okay with losing a full-priced game.
